Carmen Wilkinson Artist Resume
Artist statement:
I believe one way to learn something is to try it, hands on and without fear. The more energy you put into a piece of work will create energy that can transfer to others. This is not something that I have studied from a scientific viewpoint, this is simply from observation. I believe in color and trial and error. Contrast and complimentary colors working together to bring about something that will overall create an emotional reaction from another individual. Painting allows emotion and feeling as well as thought to be transferred to a materiel object, in return it produces another thought and emotion on another individual. Time is of the essence when painting; as life is a race to the finish. I want to paint as much as I can while I can so that when my finish line is reached there will be pieces of my soul scattered all over the world. I believe in thought and ideas. The ideas I see in my head manifest themselves on canvas but they never capture the true beauty that I see when I close my eyes. I believe in good and evil but there is no room for evil in painting. Therefore, all paintings are good!

to offset cost for a child going to the Global World Series Baseball Tournament in Orange, Beach.
Chocolate Ball 2010 - donated a painting that was auctioned off at the Chocolate Ball to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House for the families of children at Blair E. Batson Hospital in Jackson, MS
Relay for Life Donation- 2010 Relay for life Silent Auction Donation at Bank of Franklin in Meadville, MS to benefit the Cure for Cancer Relay for life walk.
Community Outreach and Education
2009/2010 School year
Worked with entire Second Grade creating various art projects and teaching the children about different artist. Franklin County Lower Elementary School.
Also volunteered with different art projects with Pre-k and K and 4th grade. The children all got to paint and create art.
Private lessons- Taught 3 different children basics of painting such as the color wheel, brush strokes, and brush care. For about Six weeks. Each child created their own piece of art on canvas.
